WHAT IS A HOME BUYERS SURVEY?
A Home Buyer Survey is a survey suitable for conventional properties in reasonable condition. This will help find out if there are any structural problems, such as subsidence or damp, as well as any other unwelcome hidden issues inside and outside.
The surveyor will inspect the property and tell you if there are structural problems like unstable walls or subsidence. The surveyor will also highlight if there are any major repairs or alterations needed, such as fixing the roof or chimney chute.
A Home Buyer Survey is essentially a health-check on a property, lifting the lid on what lies inside. It’s suitable for most modern homes, as well as conventional older homes that are in a reasonable state of repair.
The report will provide an independent account of the property’s condition and shine a spotlight on any problems. You will be informed about any obvious major problems and defects that might affect its value, such as obvious rot, damp and subsidence.
Armed with an HBS, buyers can often negotiate the price of the property down by 5-10 times the cost of the survey.

it will also provide:

-
A list of issues that need attention
-
Advice on repairs and ongoing maintenance requirements
-
A round-up of any legal considerations
A Home Buyer Survey is concise and uses a clear traffic-light coding system to highlight defects.
